The Far East Area Commission began in the Spring of 2010 with a group of community residents consisting of neighborhood block watch coordinators and civic association leaders who serve the Far East Side of Columbus, Ohio. The group was concerned with the decline of businesses, inadequate city services, rising crime and rapid residential growth. The commission was sworn in on March 5, 2012 as the 17th Area Commission in the City of Columbus.

The Mideast Area Commission (MAC) is one of 21 area commissions in the city of Columbus, distinguished by its unique structure. Unlike other commissions, MAC is composed of a representative from each civic/block watch associations within its boundaries. This model promotes inclusivity and resilience, ensuring that all community voices are heard.
We meet monthly to effectively address issues related to crime, city development, zoning, and other social concerns impacting our neighborhoods. MAC serves as a vital resource portal, connecting residents to city services and resources that can assist with their needs.
Each civic/block watch within commissioner holds the autonomy to make decisions affecting their neighborhood and can appeal to the MAC for support when confronting challenges. By uniting around a common cause, we create meaningful progress and strengthen our neighborhoods.

We meet monthly to effectively address issues related to crime, city development, zoning, and other social concerns impacting our neighborhoods. MAC serves as a vital resource portal, connecting residents to city services and resources that can assist with their needs.
Each civic/block watch within commissioner holds the autonomy to make decisions affecting their neighborhood and can appeal to the MAC for support when confronting challenges. By uniting around a common cause, we create meaningful progress and strengthen our neighborhoods.
The MAC meets every 3rd Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8:00PM at 4300 Kimberly Parkway at the Liberians in Columbus, Inc. building on the following dates:

Community Housing Resource Fair
Join us on Saturday, April 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a free Community Housing Resource Fair. As our region experiences rapid growth, collaborating with community partners to address key housing challenges remains a priority.

Far East Area Commission Meeting
The Far East Area Commission began in the Spring of 2010 with a group of community residents consisting of neighborhood block watch coordinators and civic association leaders who serve the Far East Side of Columbus, Ohio. The group was concerned with the decline of businesses, inadequate city services, rising crime and rapid residential growth. The commission was sworn in on March 5, 2012 as the 17th Area Commission in the City of Columbus.

Open House: Big Walnut Trail (Refugee Road to East Main Street)
Columbus Recreation & Parks Department (CRPD) is hosting an Open House to get your feedback on the Big Walnut Trail Extension. Join to learn more about the project and let your voice be heard!
Project Overview
The Big Walnut Trail project will construct a 3.5-mile section of the trail from Nafzger Park at Refugee Road to a future LinkUS stop at East Main Street on the city’s southeast side. This expansion will form the central core of the regional trail and will enhance pedestrian facilities, promote safety, economic growth and better access to parks, jobs, schools and popular destinations. This project will connect neighborhoods, schools, community parks and the Far East Community Center.
