Eastland residents will soon be able to get their groceries in the same place they get their health care, thanks to the new Eastland Prosperity Center.

The center's one-stop shop model, housed in a 67,000 square-foot former Kroger on Refugee Road, is a partnership between the Mid-Ohio Food Collective (MOFC), the Ohio State University College of Nursing and social services organizations that seeks to make health accessible with a one-stop shop approach.

A former Coca-Cola distribution center not far from the shuttered Eastland Mall has changed hands. The 28-acre property at 4500 Groves Road has an over 120,000-square-footwarehouse and includes 9,600 square feet of office space.

Reflecting 16 months of work and some 1,800 participants, the study highlights what residents would like to see in the neighborhood, including more grocery stores, a recreation and community center, more jobs, and improved safety and transportation.

Crews from the Grove City demolition company Loewendick started demolishing the north end of the shopping center on Columbus' Southeast Side last week in preparation for major demolition in upcoming months.

Called Vista Village, the community is using tiny homes to carve a new path out of homelessness.
